Cows and sheep have arrived.

On an unseasonably warm winter day, we welcomed four cows, 44 sheep and one fearless guard dog named Lil' Jo. What animal wouldn't be intimidated by that name!?
The cows are called South Polls. They're are a slightly smaller breed, so they're easier on the land, and they're more docile, making it easier to rotate them among fields.
The sheep are St. Croix Crossed Parasite Resistant Ewes and Rams. They are extremely aggressive foragers towards brush, weeds and anything with a thorn on it. Exactly what we need them for around the farm. The breeder's website boasts, "The toughest sheep you'll find anywhere in the U.S.". Also helpful as they'll be outside in all types of extreme midwest weather. Lil' Jo was bonded onto the flock starting at 8 weeks old, she's a great guardian.
