The Land Has a Story

In the scheme of things, we're new here, so this property timeline is approximate, but a glimpse into the rich history of both the town of Weston and the acreage we've come to love.

Forest

Before 1837

What is now Weston, MO was part of the ancient ancestral lands of the Osage, Kaw (Kansa) and Otoe-Missouria.

Forest

1837-Weston is Founded

Tom E. Weston, First Sergeant of Com. D., First Dragoons, is appointed to lay out a town. After building a shanty, Bela M. Hughes, and his cousin, Ben Holladay, approach Weston and purchase his shanty for $25. The town builds fast - the farthest trading post west at the time, hence the name - and Mr. Holladay puts up a 2-story frame house.
